New backdrops, sets, lighting and costumes gave this year’s Nutcracker a new and refreshing look! The dancing was superb and all braved the snowy weather to give a commanding performance for over 3800 people attending our shows at Mount Baker Theatre, Western Washington University and McIntyre Hall. Saturday, Dec. 20 8:30am–Nice dancing yesterday!!! My mailbox was flooded with kudos from people who went. The theatre will be open at 3pm for warm-up. Today’s schedule will stay as is but the runthrough with tonight’s cast might be shortened a little. Students in Pre-Ballet to Int. III need not arrive at the theatre [...] 8:30 am UPDATE—Roads to Mt. Vernon have been cleared by snow machine. John drove the trip this morning to the McIntyre Hall and said all roads are clear for travel. Check Washington Department of Transportations Webcam Click the traffic cam links on the left hand side. Temperatures are expected to be cold. Please prepare for cold [...] Friday, Dec. 19, 7:00am- We are on schedule for today…BUT…there is no RUSH to get to McIntyre Hall. Although it didn’t snow any more last night, it is very cold and though the main roads have been plowed and de-iced, their are still slick spots. So PLEASE drive carefully.
