Barre

Three separate studios located in one spacious Whatcom County dance facility, with simultaneously running dance classes, make Northwest Ballet School of Classical & Contemporary Dance a very active place.

Bellingham Dance

Northwest Ballet’s Classical Ballet Program, Youth Dance Program (introducing beginning ballet and beginning dance to pre-schoolers and young children) and our popular Recreational Dance Program are all available at our Bellingham studio. Our qualified instructors are committed to promoting the dancer’s ability to apply their skills with proper placement, line, and a performance quality. Nurturing attention is given to the individual student, allowing each dancer the opportunity to reach their full potential.

Our Dance Facility

Painted in warm colors and with an inviting decor, one is immediately put at ease while ascending to the second floor which houses our 3 dance studios with floors designed for dance. Northwest Ballet’s lobby area includes long upolstered benches, an attractive information table and framed art work.

Along one long wall of our lobby is Northwest Ballet’s large bulletin board. This is really “information central” where you will find NWB rehearsal schedules, sign-up sheets for proposed dance classes and private lessons, cast lists, recent articles on Northwest Ballet posted and much more. NWB also posts local and national dance seminar, master class and dance camp information. Northwest Ballet has a suggestion box for both dancers and parents placed in front of the bulletin board. We welcome your ideas, suggestions and comments regarding Northwest Ballet.

Our office, staffed by volunteers, always has it’s doors open and includes our small Northwest Ballet Gift Shop which carries a variety of dance related crafts and art created by our students as well as Gigi Berardi’s book “Finding Balance”. Also located by the office are informative brochures on Northwest Ballet, class schedules and free copies of the NWB official newsletter, Dance Corner.

The Northwest Ballet Dance Library is located at the end of the hall. Here our students can expand their knowledge of ballet, other styles of dance and dance history. Dancers and their families can use the books, videos and other resources either before or after class at the studio or by checking them out.

New to our three separated dressing rooms (male dancers, adult female and young girls) are colorful lockers. This convenient and secure addition is greatly appreciated by our dancers, some of whom would formerly carry extremely heavy dance bags to and from the studio daily. NWB dancers have also shown a decided flare for the visual arts when personalizing their lockers with paint and creative artwork. Northwest Ballet’s dressing rooms are comfortable, private, and for our dance students only. We have a microwave available for students heating snacks on those long rehearsal days.

Parents of our dancers are welcome in our lobby at all times. Our Northwest Ballet studio doors are left open during classes. It can at times be very interesting listening to several different teachers instructions and music drifting from all three studios in different directions as you sit in the lobby! We welcome visitors to observe our classes throughout the first week of every month. Our studio class doors remain open all month long, but we ask that you please respect our dancers need to concentrate and their privacy while at work. All Northwest Ballet rehearsals are closed to observers.

We look forward to dancing with you!
